• Parenting the Love & Logic Way

    Parenting the Love & Logic Way is a skills-building workshop designed to give simple and practical techniques and tips to help parents with kids of all ages and abilities.  This parent education is available for all parents, family members, and guardians and it is completely FREE.  When you attend this workshop you will learn how to:

    • Raise responsible kids
    • Put an end to arguing, back talk, and begging
    • Avoid power struggles
    • Preserve loving relationships with your children
    • Teach responsibility and how to make good decisions without losing their love
    • Guide your children to solve their own problems
    • Set enforceable limits
    • Have more fun with your kids!

    MANO A MANO / PARENTS LEARNING TO BE BETTER PARENTS WORKSHOP SERIES

    OUSD is proud to partner with Dr. Beatriz Villarreal and the Mano a Mano Foundation to offer the "Parents Learning to be Better Parents" workshop series.  This workshop is a skills-building program that helps parents, guardians and caregivers face the difficult task of raising loving and responsible children.  The program is culturally sensitive and specifically focuses on the challenges facing parents today, like drugs, gangs, communication, self-esteem, violence, and discipline. 
     
    The program is offered in eight weekly sessions from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Sessions are in-person and presented in Spanish with English interpretation available.  Childcare will also be provided. 
     
    All parents, guardians and caregivers are invited to attend.  New classes to be announced soon.
     

    Caregiver Connection

    Caregiver Connection (formerly the Parent Guardian Partner Panel) offers monthly opportunities to delve deep into learning about specific topics related to Special Education.  All parents are welcome to attend and sessions are conducted in English and Spanish.  Some topics explored are Student Reentry, Procedural Safeguards, Behavior Support, Assistive Technology strategies, IEP Documents, parent resources and summer activities.  For more information, contact Nancy Tibbitts at 760-966-7882.

    TASK, FOR PARENTS OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

    Oceanside Unified School District is pleased to announce a partnership with TASK.  TASK is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and empower children with disabilities, their families, and the professionals who serve them navigate special education, disability services, and assistive technology.  Services and information provided by TASK include: Early Intervention and Transition Services; Basic Rights and Responsibilities; Assessment Process; Navigating IEPs; Section 504 Accommodations; and resources and referrals to agencies that support families with children who have disabilities.
