    MASK POLICY FOR ALL SCHOOLS

Oceanside Unified has some additional guidance that we hope will help our school communities and families about the safety measures we still have in place for our schools.

Masking Clarification & Most Recent Public Health Order: Still Required Per State Guidance:

    • Masking guidelines remain in effect at school

    • We are required to comply with local health orders which have not yet relaxed requirements for face coverings for indoor settings or for schools.

    • All educational facilities will continue to adhere to state and local requirements which require the continued use of face coverings at this time while on school property

    • We will continue to monitor health recommendations and orders and update safety protocols as guidance changes

You may have heard the recent recommendations by the California Department of Public Health  relaxing face coverings changes guidelines for individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 when the fully vaccinated are outdoors and not at crowded places. However, masking guidelines remain in effect in most other places including schools.

While this is encouraging (and exciting), it’s important to remember that we in San Diego County and Californians are still required to comply with local health orders, which have not yet relaxed their requirements on face covering guidance for indoor settings or for schools. Until that time, all of our educational facilities will continue to adhere to state and local requirements, which continue to require the use of face coverings by all individuals while on school property.

In addition, OUSD continues to follow local Public Health Orders and the most recent Public Health Order (May 3, 2021) requires public school districts to continue reporting positive COVID-19 cases in conjunction with our County Department of Public Health, as well as contact tracing at each school, notifying students, staff, and the community.

We will continue to monitor the health recommendations and orders and will keep you informed of our safety protocols for next school year, as guidance updates are anticipated over the coming months.

Your student's and our staff's safety is of importance to us.  Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
