Coffee with the Principal
Once a month, on the second Wednesday, from 9:00 - 11:00am, Mrs. Morgan will host any interested parents for coffee! During the visit, parents will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the amazing work that happens here at Chavez Middle School. This is a great time to visit classrooms, explore our facilities, and most importantly, see what your child experiences every day.
For more information, contact our office at 760-966-4900. Thank you.

Welcome, Chávez Families and Partners!
Our school team is committed to providing the best quality education and middle school experience for your child. Our efforts as a school were recently recognized with the honor of being named an AVID National Demonstration School. This recognition was the result of all staff, students, parents, and even former Chavez alumni working together toward a common vision in the pursuit of more rigorous learning. As such, we utilize AVID strategies throughout the school related to writing, inquiry, organization, collaboration, and critical reading so that ALL students are prepared for college, careers, and life.
Middle school is a critical (and sometimes "sticky") transition period from elementary school to the world of high school. Our children today face more challenging situations than many of us experienced as children so it's crucial that we work together as a team. Middle school can be an exciting time for students to explore new opportunities and try out new sports or clubs while developing their own unique identities. A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child's education and growth. We ask that you commit to talking to your child regularly about their experiences so that you know what is going on in your child's life and can help them to begin problem-solving and finding solutions on their own. Please communicate to us if you feel your child is struggling and may need additional supports, and we commit to doing the same. Ensuring that your child comes to school prepared with the required materials and completed assignments sets them up for success throughout the day.
There are several ways you can stay up-to-date with the activities at Chávez Middle School. The Parent/Student Handbook is a useful guide to the programs and policies at Chávez. Our school website is updated regularly with information, announcements, and accomplishments. Please listen to the weekly phone and email messages as they detail the events for the upcoming week. Teachers will also communicate with you via phone or email.
We welcome you to participate in our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), which kindly supports student and teacher activities/events. Our School Site Council (SSC) and the District Parent Advisory Committee are other ways for you to learn more about the goals of the school/district and provide valuable input into programs and policies. I also host a monthly Coffee with the Principal event in which I welcome the opportunity to meet you and speak in greater detail about our school while also showing you around our campus.
Chávez Middle School is committed to continuous improvement and learning for all students and staff. We are determined to be the best that we can be for your children. I look forward to working with you and your child. Thank you for your support. Together, we will develop young scholars who are prepared for success at each and every level beyond middle school.
