Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, 

We have completed two weeks of school so far this year. Our health and safety procedures are working well. We are now focusing on taking every action necessary to reduce the impact of quarantine procedures on students. We need your help to commit to the following actions. Thank you for your consideration. Let’s keep kids in school. 

Health and Safety Call to Action:

Action #1: Have your child vaccinated if they are 12 to 17 years old. Remember, your child will not need to be quarantined if they come in close contact at school if they are fully vaccinated and asymptomatic.  The vaccination will keep them in school and able to participate in all of the extracurricular activities like athletics, band, dance, ASB, etc.
Action #2: Notify your school immediately if your child or any member of your household becomes ill with COVID-19.
Action #3: Keep your child home from school if they have ANY of the symptoms listed on the decision tree guidelines (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea).
Action #4: Keep your child home from school if they are unvaccinated AND were in close contact  with someone who has tested positive. They should NOT return to in-person learning until finishing their quarantine according to our OUSD Quarantine Guidelines. This includes close contact with someone living in the home who is positive.
Action #5: Do not send your child back to school if the child or anyone in the household is awaiting a COVID-19 test result. Only send your child back if they have a negative test result or if they have completed the entire quarantine period. 
If we can proactively respond to these five calls to action, then we can dramatically reduce the impact of quarantine on all students. 

Testing: OUSD provides free COVID-19 testing to students and staff at the following locations, days, and times: 

Oceanside HS & El Camino HS - Mondays & Thursdays, 8:00am-3:00pm 
Libby Elementary & ESS (2080 Mission Ave.) - Mondays & Thursdays, 9:30am-4:00pm 
ESS - Wednesdays 1:00pm - 4:00pm (reserved for staff)
Testing is voluntary.

Estimados padres de familia, tutores y encargados:

Hemos terminado 13 días de clases hasta ahora este año. Nuestros procedimientos de salud y seguridad están funcionando bien. Nos estamos enfocando ahora en tomar toda medida necesaria para reducir el impacto de los procedimientos de cuarentena en los estudiantes. Necesitamos su ayuda para comprometerse a tomar las siguientes medidas. Gracias por su consideración. Mantengamos a los niños en la escuela.

Llamado a la acción por la salud y seguridad:

Medida no. 1: Vacunar a su hijo si tiene entre 12 y 17 años. Recuerden, su hijo no necesitará ponerse en cuarentena si entra en contacto estrecho en la escuela si está completamente vacunado y asintomático. La vacunación lo mantendrá en la escuela y podrá participar en todas las actividades extracurriculares, como los deportes, banda, danza, asociación del cuerpo estudiantil, etc.
Medida no. 2: Notificar a la escuela inmediatamente si su hijo o cualquier miembro de su hogar se enferma de COVID-19.
Medida no. 3: Tener a su hijo en casa y no en la escuela si tiene ALGUNO de los síntomas enumerados en la guía para la toma de decisiones (fiebre o escalofríos, tos, dificultades para respirar, fatiga, dolores corporales, dolor de cabeza, nueva pérdida del gusto o del olfato, dolor de garganta, congestión o moqueo nasal, náusea o vómito, diarrea).
Medida no. 4: Tener a su hijo en casa y no en la escuela si no ha sido vacunado Y ha tenido contacto cercano con alguien que haya dado positivo. NO debe volver a clases en persona hasta que termine su cuarentena en conformidad con nuestras Normas de Cuarentena del OUSD. Incluye el contacto cercano con alguien que vive en el hogar que dio positivo. 
Medida no. 5: No mandar a su hijo a la escuela si el niño o cualquier persona en el hogar está esperando el resultado de una prueba de COVID-19. Solamente mande a su hijo de regreso a la escuela si tiene el resultado negativo de la prueba o si ha terminado todo el período de cuarentena.
Si podemos responder proactivamente a estos cinco llamados a la acción, entonces podemos reducir dramáticamente el impacto de la cuarentena en todos los estudiantes.

Pruebas: OUSD proporciona pruebas de COVID-19 gratuitamente a los estudiantes y personal en los siguientes ubicaciones, días y horas:



Oceanside High School y El Camino HS: los lunes y jueves, de 8 a.m a 3 p.m.
Libby Elementary y las oficinas del distrito ESS (2080 Mission Ave.): los lunes y jueves, de 9:30 a.m a 4:00 p.m.
Las oficinas del distrito ESS: miércoles, 1-4:00 p.m. (reservado para el personal)
